Horizon Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (this 'Policy') applies to all users of the Virgin TV online products and services (the 'Service') as provided by Virgin Media Ireland Limited.

Please read this Policy in conjunction with our general terms and conditions, which can be found at, our Privacy Policy at and and any terms and conditions that may apply to the Service. This Policy may be subject to change from time to time.

The Service may contain links to other companies’ websites and services which they offer; these companies may have acceptable use policies of their own. We recommend that you read the acceptable use policies of such third parties. We are not responsible for the practices or content of any such third parties’ products or third parties’ services.

If you do not agree to or cannot comply with the terms and conditions of this Policy, do not install, copy, and/or use the Service.

1.     Use of the Service

By accessing the Service on each occasion, you agree and acknowledge to the following:

  • We offer you the Service in collaboration with our licensors ('Content Providers') and other third parties. The Service is provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis, except as required by law; we give no warranty, express or implied, as to the quality and availability over the internet.
  • You can only use the Service if you have concluded a valid and effective subscriber contract with Virgin Media Ireland Limited regarding the provision of our TV and broadband products. If you terminate such products, the Service will be terminated automatically.
  • You shall use the Service only for purposes that are permitted by this Policy and any applicable law or regulation.
  • You can use the Service exclusively for your own personal and private purposes, any business or public use is strictly prohibited.
  • You shall not access or attempt to access the Service by any means other than through the applicable website.
  • You shall not engage in any activity that interferes with or disrupts the Service.
  • You acknowledge that the Service is only accessible through devices which are technologically appropriate and compatible to display the Service and are connected to a continuous wired or wireless broadband Internet connection.
  • You can only use the Service in the Territory of Ireland. Where content is limited to viewing within the home this means within your home. Other types of viewing are specifically prohibited.
  • Virgin Media Ireland Limited may set a maximum to the number of concurrent devices you may use to access the Service. We shall be entitled to block access to the Service when you have acted contrary to this Policy.
  • You shall not and you shall not assist any third party to:

-    copy, reproduce, transmit, modify, alter, reverse-engineer, emulate, de-compile, or disassemble the Service in any way, or create derivative works of the Service;

-    use the Service or any portion of it to create any tool or software product that can be used to create software applications of any nature whatsoever;

-    rent, lease, loan, make available to the public, sell or distribute the Service in whole or in part;

-    tamper with the Service or circumvent any technology used by us or our Content Providers to protect any Content accessible through the Service;

-    circumvent any territorial restrictions applied to the Service;

-    create user accounts by means of fraudulent methods;

-    use the Service in a way that violates this Policy.

2.    Content

  • All content, including but not limited to the architecture, outlook and appearance of the Service, the films, TV programs, images, music, text and other material ('Content') made available via the Service is owned by us or our Content Providers. All right, title and ownership in the Service remains with us and content providers, as applicable. The rights to use the Service are licensed to you and are not being sold to you, and you have no rights in it other than to use it in accordance with this Policy.
  • You acknowledge that by using the Service, you may be exposed to Content that you may find offensive, indecent or objectionable and that, in this respect, you agree that use of the Service is at your own risk.

3.    Service updates

Service updates are designed to improve, enhance and further develop the Service and to add and inform you of new services, such as new Content and new functionalities. You agree to receive such updates as part of your use of the Service and agree that the implementation of such updates may affect the availability of the Service.

4.    Privacy and data protection

Viewing history is only used to optimize your entertainment experience; adult content will not be tracked or included in recommendations. We will not sell your data to third parties. The Virgin TV Anywhere service has a unique, intelligent, feature that gives you a personalised entertainment experience. We ask you to give us permission to collect information about your viewing preferences and make recommendations about content you are likely to appreciate or special offers that may be of interest to you.
However, if you are a Virgin TV subscriber with an Horizon set top box, your Privacy Settings for Recommendations on Virgin TV Anywhere will follow the Settings you have in your Horizon Box. This means that if you have chosen to have personalised recommendations in your Horizon Box Settings, your content recommendations will also be based on your Virgin TV Anywhere viewing preferences. When you change your Settings for Recommendations in your Horizon Box, you will also be changing them for Virgin TV Anywhere.

5.    User account and security
